Rich Chocolate Cake

Rich Chocolate Cake (350°F)

• 1 cup butter
• 2 teaspoons vanilla
• 5 eggs
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 cup sour milk (1 tablespoon vinegar)
• 2 cups sugar
• 1 cup cocoa
• 2 cups flour (2 ¼ if cake flour is used
• 1 teaspoon salt

Choco Frosting

Combine then add:

• 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar
• 6 tablespoons cornstarch
• ½ cup cocoa
• ½ teaspoon salt

Cook, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add:

• 1 ½ cups boiling water
• ¼ cup butter

Ice box Cake Filling

• 1/3 cup sugar
• 3 tablespoons cornstarch
• 2 egg yolks
• 2 cups milk (scalded)
• 2 tablespoons butter
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• ¼ teaspoon salt
