Whenever Jeanne ask me if I want to go to the Sydney Fish Market – I look at her with puzzlement. Didn’t she know that I grew up in the Fish Market – why is she calling me like it’s an excursion to a fascinating place? In 15 years of residence in Oz – we never visited the Sydney Fish Market in Pyrmont – but this time I said – why not?<\/p>\n

To paint you a picture – we could have just driven to the market, a 40Km plus journey – but then again that’s too simple. So we’ve driven half-way and left our car at the Harris Farm Market in Parramatta and took the ferry to Circular Quay, Sydney. There we took another ferry to Pyrmont and walk 1\/2 kilometer to the fish market. We planned to have breakfast there but the trip took so long – it was mid-day by the time we got there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doyle’s Seafood Special which they said was good for two but I swear it could have fed four!<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n

The stench of the place is really reminiscent of being in Baguio City fish market. But people actually flock the place for a good fresh seafood feed. They spread picnic rugs or sit on the many picnic tables that line the harbour. Jeanne was just after a seafood pie that her work mates have been raving about. I, on the other hand, had my heart set on eating at Doyle’s. Well, with food like this, the smell of the air, and the childhood memory gives new meaning to ‘eating your heart out’ \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

On our way home, we decided to take the train. On the way to the station, however, we visited the Australian Maritime Museum. They have a traveling exhibit of Otzi the Iceman. A 5,000 year old mummy. We took pictures of his replica. We ended the day watching, at home, the Men’s finals of the 2008 Australian Open.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
