For the past 3 weeks, we&#8217;ve been spending our Friday nights at the &#8220;Overflow&#8221; in the Sydney Olympic Park for the yearly Music by Moonlight Concert. <!--more-->We&#8217;ve missed the first 2 concerts at the beginning of the month which featured Kate Cerebrano and her Jazz Band on the first week, followed by &#8220;From Broadway to the West End&#8221; music on the second week.<\/p>\n<p>We caught the African World Music and &#8220;It&#8217;s Only Rock n Roll&#8221; music of the Rolling Stones on following two weeks. Tonight, the finale of the concert series, was the famous &#8211; Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Here&#8217;s an excerpt from the concert.<\/p>\n<p><center><br \/>\n<code>[flashvideo filename=media\/SydneySymphony-show0.flv width=320 height=270 image=wp-content\/themes\/artipax\/images\/concert.jpg \/]<\/code> <\/center><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve never seen the Sydney Symphony at their usual habitat at the Opera House (the most photograph icon of Sydney). One day I will. We&#8217;ve seen them perform for the Olympic Opening Ceremony in 2000. Then on a concert at the Telstra Arena where they played the 1812 Overture using real canons (you&#8217;ll never hear this played with such realism, not even in the most expensive hi-fi system). A couple of times now at the Overflow &#8211; but I&#8217;m sure it would be nice to hear them where there are no Qantas Flight overhead that seem to fly over at the most inappropriate time &#8211; when your listening to a sweet cadenza on the oboe :-)The atmosphere at these moonlight concerts are really homey &#8211; we spread blankets on the grass, and sit in our folded chairs that is now permanently packed in the boot. Sometimes we bring some snacks \/ drinks but it&#8217;s always easy to get a quick bite at the local chinese\/thai shop before heading to the park. We will miss the concert series until it returns again next year.
