The concrete slab was not poured until the 18th of May 1996 due to poor weather condition and red tapes in the Blacktown Council. During the first week of May, Sydney had the highest recorded rainfall. Then the Blacktown Council decided to throw the book on Beechwood for not informing them on the change in the position of the house. By law, the council should advertise to our neighbours for two weeks if there are any changes to the:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>Roof Pitch\/design (i.e. changing gables etc)<\/li>\n<li>Extending\/Reducing width or depth of home<\/li>\n<li>Changing front appearance of home<\/li>\n<li>Window alteration, i.e. size or position<\/li>\n<li>Repositioning the house on the block<\/li>\n<li>Single garage to double or vice versa <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><div id=\"attachment_427\" style=\"width: 210px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rommelpascual.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/1996\/05\/39313_30.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[421]\" rel=\"lightbox[a]\" title=\"Dining Room Concrete Slab\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-427\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rommelpascual.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/1996\/05\/s3931330.jpg\" alt=\"Dining Room Concrete Slab\" title=\"Dining Room Concrete Slab\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" class=\"size-full wp-image-427\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-427\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dining Room Concrete Slab<\/p><\/div>The need to advertise can be likened to a wedding when the priest calls out to anyone who might have objections before they forever hold their peace.<\/p>\n<p>Well, we were able to slightly shorten the two-week advertisement by asking our neighbours to sign a &#8220;No Objection&#8221; clause. Even this did not pass without drama with the council. By the time they arrived to a decision, a week had passed.
