Continuum Sax Concert

Continuum Sax Night 20-Aug-2005 : The sound of classical saxophone is a wonderful experience. The musicians have mastered their instruments that you can close your eyes and hear violins, then every so often, they deliberately add the rough timbre of brass. The complexity of the music kept me at the edge of my seat, yet they play it with such ease and restraint.

I must admit, however, that it was very hard to warm up to the sound of Gail Priest, the guest Sound Artist. Jeanne coyly refer to it like a Friends episode with Ross playing synthesiser music and everyone pretending to like it. But somewhere in the 4th movement, when she took audio samples from the instruments and seamlessly juxtapose it to the quartette – did I began to appreciate what was happening on the stage.
