Celine Turns 21

Celine Lowe
Celine Lowe Austria-Pascual

Being the first born, we experience a lot of parent’s first with Celine. First baby, first to see off to school, first baptism, to see graduate from primary, high school and senior school. Her turning 18, not too long ago, was also our first big party ever hosted.

Now, as she turn 21, there are a few quaint experiences too. For instance, she received a birthday card from the local parliament representative. I’m sure everyone who turns 21 gets it – it’s a welcome and a reminder that she is now old enough – not just to vote, but to actively participate in the political process. If they’ll ever have a voice – now is the time to start exercising them. It will only get louder or subdued as they get older – depending on what they choose.

We also received a letter from our health insurance. Her birthday would mean that she no longer qualify as a dependent and she must have her own cover already. Fortunately, they left an option that for as long as Celine is a full time university student, she can remain as a dependent to age 25. Since she decided to enroll full time this year – we continue to have her under our wings. But there’s a bit of angst knowing that sooner or later – our Celine would leave the nest.

What cemented it though was my neighbor Dave – when I told him that Celine turns 21 – he said “Congratulations”. That’s new, when they were 13 going 30, you get that silent grin that says – “good luck, you’re in for the tough times”. It was really not that tough with Celine and Jessica …. ok – just a bit … or … well, you know how it is 🙂

Congratulations – he said. Does that mean our work is done? Is the parent’s work really done? What do you think?

These photos including the main photo were taken by Celine herself. Often times, she would need a headshot for her auditions. Short of money and time but not of resourcefulness, she would take her own headshots to clip to her resume.

  1. Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday, Celine! May you have more birthdays to come!

Wow! Twenty-one years old! You don’t look like it! You look so young and very beautiful. Manang-mana sa mommy…, at sa daddy, siempre.

Sorry to burst your bubbles, Rommel. Your work will never be done, and it never ends. As long as you are around your work continues, whether your children are married or not, with children or none, be still there to give any kind of support. The children will always come home to the security they have grown up, and will always be the kids they are. They will remain children like you are.

They are blessed to have you and Jeannie to love them forever. They feel welcome to come back home no matter what the future holds for them.

Enjoy your day, Celine. Have fun and treat yourself nicely! God bless! Borrow Daddy’s card and go shopping, keep charging… Daddy’s rich!, edited out by Admin, negative influence not allowed he, he, he…..

  6. Happy Birthday! I hope you celebrate a night to remember (or not)!!! 🙂 Enjoy these years, my early 20s were the best.

  7. Happy 21st Birthday, my anak! My Sherline 🙂

If only I am a writing buff like your Dad, Celine, I would have made my own write-up version of yet another significant birthday milestone widely celebrated here in Australia – your 21st birthday.

As far as I know, for girls, the big milestone to celebrate is their 18th birthday while for the boys, it’s their 21st. But now I think girls have the option celebrate their 21st as big as their 18th or instead of their 18th (if you get my drift 🙂 )

Anyway, regardless, I think we’ve made the decision to celebrate your 18th the big way. And now on your 21st, you’ve opted to organise an exciting “Murder Mystery” Party with Jessica and some of your close friends. Your Dad and I are excited for you to host a small party of your own. Take a lot of photos and maybe short video clips, okay?

Oh, look at this, I didn’t think I was going to write a long comment!

Anyway, my baby, all I can say is, I thank God for everyday that He makes that we share with you. For everyday that we wake up and see your smiling pretty face. For everytime we hear you sing an opera or play your favourite piano piece “Nocturne in C minor”? I just thank God for giving you to us. You are a blessing and my prayer for you is to live a full life, filled with love and happiness, with God always by your side.

I love you very much! Be good…take care!

    Love mom

  8. Happy 21st Celine! I am very proud of you and I miss you. I hope to hear you sing to me again. You are a very talented young lady and I wish that you will one day reach your dreams. Thank your mommy and daddy for raising you and your sister to be such wonderful and delightful kids…este grown-ups na pala! Come and visit us again!

    Lots of hugs and kisses,
Tita Toni, Tito Arnold, Joshua and Breanna

ofcourse your job as parents doesnt stop there…still lot to wait..
you need to aprroved her suitors lol… congrats for having such a lovely lady..
and having raised them well job well done

  12. happy 21st bday celine! believe me, as francis & i have found out, and continue to realize, that parenting never ends. when mark graduated from college, we thought that his life is his to run from then on…. pero hindi pala…. we continue to worry for and about them… are they getting a job? are they getting paid well? even after having a family of his own… ganun pa rin… and the same is being repeated now with Pao.
So congratulations … you are entering a new phase when they begin to assert their individualism and independence and you find out you have a hard time letting go… ha-ha-ha…. at least that goes for us.
Celine, we wish you a happy and blessed life ahead… do what you think is best for you while still considering your parents advice and opinions. that won’t hurt…. experience is always a parents’ edge in decision-making that’s why i don’t think it will hurt to listen & consider. We love and miss you sooooooo much. Imagine it’s been 4 years na pala since your debut here. how i really wish we could go visit you there…

  13. Hi Celine,
I can’t believe you’re now 21 years old, I was just cuddling you as a little baby before and now you are already a full grown up lady. But for me you are still my baby eldest pamangkin. I missed you so so very much and I Love You! Have fun and enjoy and I wish we could be there celebrating your birthday with you, anyways you’re in our thoughts. God bless you more and Happy Happy Birthday, Celine.

    Love,
    Tita Levs

  14. hi celine! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! so you’re 21. it seems only a year ago when you were here on tour and looking forward to you debut in the philippines. we do miss you and your family a lot. i hope one of these days we can get together again and spend some good times somehow.
does it feel any different being 21? i guess not. it is just that your prospects in and about life are more. things don’t change overnight when your age changes, right? it’s when you step out of the comfort zone of your family and go on your own, so to speak, is when you realize life changes. anyhow, it is not for you to think about it now. just enjoy your special day and have a great time! take care.
    we love you!

  15. From Lola Litz:

A big happy happy birthday to you Celine. If I remember mama (lola to you) Lou would say to b day celebrants:
“May you have many more, and we are so glad you came into this world.”
    From me:

Nobody could do anything as you do, because you were knitted wonderfully into the image of our loving Father. No one is like you, uniquely created for a purpose. May the wonderful guidance and examples of love, the guidance of your mom and dad be continued to grow in you as you live LIFE to the fullest.

    Much love and prayers,
    Lola Litz

I know that for some of you, it’s a bit daunting to be posting for the first time but it’s well worth. Your messages don’t just get buried in our mailbox but rather occupy a special place in our site.

  17. hi, rommel. your daughter looks like francis magalona’s daughter. all the best for her on her birthday.

i believe that work’s not done yet but we have to limit the meddling he he

  18. Hi, Celine!!

LOL on that edited out comment of ur Tita (/Lola huh) Neng. See.. I, myself review and re-review all the comments on your and your dad’s blogs with heaps of fondness. I always marvel on someone’s willingness to share one’s thoughts and expressing ’em so well too! ‘Tis a talent on its own to write, more so when you put them together with pics and video clips and all.

Now back to this blog… How could you be 21, Celine? You were just trying to pester me (with Jess) a few days (r they years?) ago.. as restless kids. How could you have grown up so quick? Geez, it also means.. If you’re 21, I must be.. never mind 😉

Huh.. The Celine I always thought I’d know was chubby too (I meant had baby fats of course). Your headshots proved me wrong!! I’d like what you’re having…. oh please!!

Gasps aside, you’re such a wonderful gal that whatever you do or choose to do, we know in our hearts that you’ll shine!! We are as proud of you and just feel as blessed to be one of your next of kins 😉 We juuust wish you the best in your adult life and love life too!!!

    Luv you heaps,
Tita Helen, Lou and Tito Jhun
