Waiting

We just spent over 1 1/2 hours waiting for our dinner to be served in a posh restaurant in Sydney. The table next to ours simply walked-out as they could not wait anymore. When our order did arrive – one dish was so salty – we sent it back. The manager apologised and explained that they were short of one chef. Fortunately for them, we were desperately trying to keep our spirits up, not wanting our family time to turn sour. We were celebrating the last few days that Jessica is 18.

Which lead me to the question : Have you ever considered how much time is spent waiting? A great deal of our day are spent waiting – I’ll start a list:

  1. For the lights to turn Green
  2. For your turn at the bowser
  3. For people to turn up in a meeting
  4. For your computer to boot
  5. For a web page to load
  6. To be served in a restaurant
  7. At a supermarket checkout
  8. At a bank teller
  9. At an automatic teller
  10. For the bus/taxi/plane/train/ferry or jeep/tricycle/3-wheeler
  11. For your turn in the toilet/shower
  12. For someone to stop talking so that you can put in a word or two
  13. For water to boil or coffee to drip

  1. hi rommel, i visited your site a few days ago but under repair sya e. you were asking about an english review of a resort in pinas di ba? here is a link in my mommy blog, a new resort in anilao – you might want to show this to your friends there to promote pinas 🙂

and speaking of waiting, the manager should have adviced the costumers that food would come late; para mas professional ang dating di ba? well, at least nag enjoy kayong pamilya dahil magkakasama kayo. hate ko din mag intay, pero kapag may appointment ako, i am always at least 10 mins early, kaya i bring with me books to read 😀

    • Hi Kengks,

Yah – I actually moved my website from Servage.net to Host Monster. There was a bit of downtime as I also redirected my domain. It’s fairly stable now – kaya parang walang nangyari 🙂 I’m reading the review now and hopefully I get to visit some of these places too. I started a new job this year, kaya wala pa akong bakasyon na naipon.

Pareho tayo – gusto kung maaga sa appointment – pero sa trabaho – anything before 9:30am is too early for me – hindi pa umaandar ang utak nun.

  2. We spend a lot of time waiting. Lalo na ngayon dito sa Pinas, lahat na lang ng services may pila kaya ang haba ng nasasayang na oras.

Ako, I always have a book with me and a small notebook, too. Just in case may maisip na maganda, I can write it down immediately.

Salamat pala sa pagbisita sa i-view. 🙂

    • Sometimes I forget how it was back home. Kung minsan pati traffic umaangal ako, pero kung tutuusin – mas matindi pa ang naranasan sa Pilipinas. Actually, that same morning I woke up and there was not a drop of water in the tap. Immediately I rang Sydney Water Emergency Service – whereas, pag nasa Baguio sana ako – I would have just shrug and get on with life 🙂

  3. Nakakainip talaga maghintay…almost all of the time we spent ourselves waiting…

all you have mentioned on your list naranasan ko rin…pero may mga sablay nga lang…sometimes in using public CR, like in the mall, you have this behavior talaga na tumayo infront of the door at wait for someone’s inside to get out to have your turn..pero ang nangyari..tayo lang ako ng tayo, naghintay, wala naman palang tao sa loob…hahahhahaha…

I went grocery one day, So, Pila na ako to pay, then suddenly..sa kamamadali ko pumila ako doon sa may “next counter please” sign. The person before me was the last one to be serve in that counter…so sa kahihintay ko…wala..lumipat nalang ako sa ibang counter…hahahhahaha…

ang mas masakit na part sa paghihintay, where in the ATM booth. Haba nang pila noon. I guess a day after payday…eh di pila ako to the max..by the time na ako na..i inserted my ATM card…balance inquiry…may perang laman…another transaction…widrawal…and tooot…toooot….tooot…”the machine can’t be able to process your transaction”…sabay luwa ng card ko…..waaaaaaaaaaaaaa…naubusan pa ng pera ang machine akalain mo yon…

‘yon lang “Kuya”….share ko lang yong ibang waiting exprienced ko.

  4. You forgot to mentioned the traffic which eats a lot of time Rommel……
